Alaska Airlines pilots are earning some of the industry's highest salaries after a newly negotiated contract, with first officers starting at $107,900 annually and senior captains making over $400,000. The Seattle-based carrier's pilots now receive $119.92 per hour for first officers and $361.29 per hour for captains, according to Aviation A2Z.

These compensation packages include base pay plus additional earnings from layover pay, premium segments, and profit sharing. Captains flying 75 hours monthly earn $324,000 in base salary, which can exceed $350,000 with add-ons. The airline also provides comprehensive benefits including personal travel privileges and loss of license protection.

Alaska Airlines isn't alone in offering premium pilot compensation. An American Airlines Boeing 737 captain recently posted a paycheck showing $458,000 in earnings, highlighting the broader trend of airlines competing for experienced pilots. Industry observers note that these substantial salaries reflect both the critical responsibility of flying commercial aircraft and the current pilot shortage affecting the aviation sector.
