A 1983 Toyota Celica Supra recently surfaced at a Colorado Springs self-service wrecking yard, offering a glimpse into 1980s automotive engineering before it was crushed months later. The second-generation model, known as the Celica XX in Japan, featured a DOHC 2.8-liter straight-six engine producing 150 horsepower and 159 pound-feet of torque.

This particular Supra, equipped with a manual transmission, originally cost $14,148 in 1983—equivalent to approximately $46,878 today. The car boasted standard features that were often optional on American competitors like the Camaro Z28 and Mustang GT, including air conditioning and a thermostat-controlled HVAC system. Despite its premium equipment, the vehicle succumbed to rust, a common fate for 1980s Toyotas in Colorado's climate.

While the Celica Supra offered sophisticated engineering and comprehensive standard equipment, it couldn't escape the harsh realities of Colorado's weather and road conditions. The vehicle's odometer showed well over 200,000 miles, demonstrating its durability despite the eventual corrosion that led to its demise at the U-Pull-&-Pay facility.
