Weyerhaeuser reported a significant increase in its second-quarter profit, driven by rising prices for lumber and western logs. The timberland company's net income reached $162 million, or 23 cents a share, a substantial jump from $87 million, or 12 cents a share, in the same period last year. Adjusted earnings per share came in at 13 cents, exceeding the 8 cents expected by analysts polled by Fact Set.

Despite prevailing economic uncertainty and inflation, Weyerhaeuser expressed optimism regarding the recent pricing trends in its key markets. The company's adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) stood at $310 million. This performance underscores the company's ability to capitalize on favorable market conditions in the timber and lumber sectors.
