Performance Food Q4 Revenue and Profit Surge

The food service and convenience-food company, Performance Food, saw revenue climb 6.4% to $18.03 billion in the fiscal fourth quarter, beating analysts' forecast of $18.11 billion. That's a clear sign that higher prices are translating into increased top‑line growth.

Net income rose substantially to $162.3 million, or $1.03 per share, compared with $131.5 million and 84 cents a share a year earlier. Even after stripping out one‑time items, the adjusted per‑share earnings came in at $1.59, just shy of the $1.60 analysts expected. This suggests that while costs are climbing, the company is managing to keep margins healthy through pricing power.

The results underscore the resilience of the food‑service sector, which has endured supply‑chain pressures and labor shortages. Performance Food’s ability to maintain profitability while raising prices positions it well for continued growth in the coming quarters.

With operating expenses rising alongside sales, the company’s gross margin remained above 11%, a level that supports the higher earnings per share. Management highlighted that efficient distribution logistics and a strong client base in the retail and hospitality arenas will help offset any future cost pressures.
