Valero Energy reported strong second‑quarter results, with revenue jumping 48.8% to $44.48 billion and profit rising to $3.72 billion, or $12.62 a share, up from $714 million, or $2.28 a share, a year earlier. Adjusted earnings were $12.54 a share.

The San Antonio‑based oil refiner credited sturdy fuel demand for the surge, noting that revenue far exceeded analyst projections of $39.47 billion. Adjusted earnings exclude one‑time items.

Analysts surveyed by FactSet had forecast earnings of $10.13 a share; Valero’s actual performance topped both revenue and earnings estimates, reflecting stronger‑than‑expected market conditions.

The outcome highlights the company’s ability to capitalize on robust refining margins and demand, positioning it favorably for the remainder of the fiscal year.
