The latest Market Talks reveal that the US Trade Representative (USTR) highlighted a full reversal of digital policies previously introduced by former Canada PM Justin Trudeau. Internet‑law expert Michael Geist noted a tentative USTR deal will include “digital trade alignment,” citing Canada’s retreat from a digital‑services tax that forced US streamers to surrender up to 15% of Canadian revenue. Geist also believes the Trudeau‑era online news law is likely dead.

Meta Platforms blocked links to news stories on Facebook and Instagram in Canada starting in 2023, as the Trudeau administration law required digital platforms to finance media outlets.

SK Hynix announced a buyback and cancellation of 40 trillion won of treasury shares, which Citi analysts say will put a meaningful floor under the chip maker’s share price. Peter Lee noted the company raised its 2025‑2027 shareholder return budget and plans further disclosure during its 3Q earnings call. The stock closed 9.7% lower in Seoul.

Hesai Group’s 3Q revenue is expected to grow 38%‑45% to 1.1‑1.15 billion yuan, Jefferies analysts said, citing management guidance. The company reiterated a full‑year LiDAR shipment target of 3‑3.5 million units and maintains a 2026 gross margin near 40%. Jefferies gave Hesai a buy rating with a target price of 29.30 HKD.
