Taco Bell is implementing a strategy to regain customers following a parasitic outbreak linked to its lettuce. The company is reintroducing $1 Mexican Pizzas and introducing limited-time offers such as butter chicken tacos.

Although health authorities identified Taylor Farms as the supplier whose lettuce was connected to the cyclospora-related illnesses, Taco Bell experienced a decline in sales due to customer reports of gastrointestinal distress. The chain stated it removed lettuce from the implicated supplier within 72 hours of being notified by public-health officials.

Taco Bell's same-store sales saw a 2% decrease in the period from mid-June through July 27. Sales reportedly reached their lowest point the weekend of July 18th and have shown improvement since.
