StubHub Holdings failed to turn a profit in the second quarter despite surging revenue from the World Cup as costs climbed. The company posted a loss attributable to common stockholders of $40,000, or 0 cents a share, compared with a loss of $75.9 million a year earlier. Analysts polled by Fact Set had expected a profit of 11 cents a share.\n\nRevenue climbed 33% to $573.1 million, well ahead of analyst forecasts for $513.3 million.

The ticketing platform benefited from strong demand for events including the World Cup, but rising expenses offset the top-line gains.\n\nThe results underscore the challenge StubHub faces in converting high-volume sales into sustainable profitability. The company’s costs, particularly in marketing and technology, grew faster than revenue during the quarter.\n\nStubHub continues to invest in expanding its marketplace and improving user experience, aiming to capture more of the global live events market. However, investors remain cautious as the path to consistent profitability remains uncertain.
