Spotify Technology, the Swedish audio streamer, announced on Aug. 4, 2026 at 6:01 am ET that it reached a milestone of 300 million premium subscribers in the second quarter, while revenue rose 14% compared with a year earlier. The results were reported as the company posted a strong quarter, with operating profit improving and the stock reacting modestly.

The company added seven million premium subscribers in Q2, bringing the total to 300 million and beating its prior guidance by one million, a result driven by strong growth across North America, Latin America, Europe and other regions. The addition of these subscribers was fueled by new content initiatives and expanded marketing efforts, which helped attract younger demographics.

Spotify’s revenue increase of 14% was supported by continued subscriber expansion and higher average revenue per user, reflecting pricing adjustments and premium tier uptake. The growth was spread across all of Spotify’s regions—North America, Latin America, Europe and other parts of the world—supporting the strong revenue increase and reinforcing its position in the streaming industry.

Despite a 2.72% dip in its share price on the day, the milestone underscores Spotify’s expanding user base and revenue momentum as it competes in a crowded streaming market, with the company poised for continued dominance in the industry.
