McDonald's is launching a major beverage expansion, adding energy drinks and crafted sodas to its U.S. menu lineup. The fast-food giant plans to introduce a Red Bull Dragonberry Energizer alongside new offerings like a Dirty Dr Pepper and Mango Pineapple Refresher, according to company documents viewed by The Wall Street Journal.

This move represents McDonald's most significant push into the beverage category, with energy drinks slated to launch in August and other new drinks rolling out next month. The company has been testing beverage concepts for years, including trials at its now-closed CosMc's concept restaurant, which experimented with drinks like Sour Cherry Energy Burst and Blackberry Mint Green Tea.

The beverage expansion signals McDonald's aggressive strategy to capture more of the growing specialty drink market and compete with chains like Starbucks and Dunkin'. By partnering with established brands like Red Bull while developing proprietary beverages, the company aims to drive traffic during non-traditional meal times and boost average check sizes through premium drink offerings.
