Haleon Bets $233M on India Manufacturing Plant

Haleon will invest £175 million ($233.5 million) to build its first manufacturing facility in India, targeting the oral-health market. The plant in Madhya Pradesh will produce dental care products and create roughly 500 jobs, representing the company's largest investment since spinning out from GSK in 2022.

India revenue grew double digits last year, driven primarily by the oral-health business. This follows Haleon's recent Shanghai plant investment as the company shifts from supply chain consolidation to geographic expansion. The move signals confidence in India's consumer growth trajectory.

Chief Executive Brian McNamara acknowledged the company previously focused on rationalizing operations, closing plants rather than establishing new manufacturing footprints. The Indian investment marks a strategic reversal toward building local production capabilities.

Local manufacturing could improve margins and market access as demand rises for oral-care products in India. This positions Haleon to compete more effectively against regional players while reducing reliance on imported goods.
