Feds Probe Online Ketamine Sales Amid Safety Concerns

Federal officials are intensifying efforts to curb the at-home use of ketamine due to growing concerns over misuse, adverse effects, and fatalities. The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) is reportedly conducting multiple investigations into online ketamine providers deemed "bad actors."

In late June, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) took direct action by issuing warning letters to 14 online marketers. These letters cited "significant violations" and demanded an immediate halt to the sale of their ketamine products. The FDA specifically highlighted the substantial risks associated with unapproved ketamine products, particularly when used without adequate medical supervision.

The agency emphasized that the "easy availability of unapproved and misbranded ketamine products via the internet puts U.S. consumers at risk for serious adverse events." Websites like ketaminetroches.com and legitketaminesuppliers.com were among those identified in these warnings, underscoring the federal focus on these online channels to control the dangerous proliferation of at-home ketamine use.
