DoorDash Profit Drops Amid Rising Costs

DoorDash reported a $200 million profit in the second quarter, a decrease from $285 million in the same period last year, as increased expenses outpaced revenue growth. The company's profit per share fell to 46 cents, missing analyst expectations of 47 cents.

The profit decline was primarily attributed to higher costs associated with fulfilling a greater number of orders, alongside increased spending on sales, marketing, research and development, and general overhead.

Despite the profit dip, DoorDash's revenue saw a significant rise of 36%, reaching $4.45 billion, up from $3.28 billion in the prior year. This revenue figure surpassed analyst expectations of $4.34 million.
