CBS News is bringing in several prominent journalists to "60 Minutes" as new executive producer Nick Bilton begins to shape the program. Among the new additions are New York Times columnist Ross Douthat and author/documentarian Sebastian Junger, who will join as a correspondent and contributor, respectively.

Norah O'Donnell, formerly of "CBS Evening News" and morning shows, will transition to "60 Minutes" full-time as a correspondent, broadening her existing responsibilities. Additionally, documentary filmmaker Gianna Toboni and CBS News' senior global affairs correspondent Trevor Phillips will be joining the show as contributors.

Bilton stated that these new hires are intended to uphold the program's commitment to "fearless, independent and impartial reporting." He emphasized that the chosen journalists are "entrepreneurial" and possess the skills to connect with contemporary audiences, marking Bilton's initial significant staffing changes since assuming leadership in May.
