Bath & Body Works raised its full-year earnings outlook after posting higher second-quarter profit. The retailer now expects annual adjusted earnings per share of $2.60 to $2.80, up from prior guidance of $2.40 and $2.65. It narrowed sales guidance to a decline of 4.5% to 2.5%, from the previously projected 4% to 2.5% decline.

The company reported a profit of $118 million, or 58 cents a share, compared with $64 million, or 30 cents a share, a year earlier. Adjusted per-share earnings were 62 cents, exceeding the 24 cents analysts anticipated via Fact Set. Revenue fell 2.3% to $1.51 billion, slightly above the $1.50 billion forecast.

Chief Executive Daniel Heaf said underlying trends remain under pressure but elements of the turnaround strategy are starting to work. For the third quarter, the company forecasts a 5% to 2.5% sales decline and adjusted earnings per share of 7 cents to 12 cents.
