AST SpaceMobile raised its full-year revenue outlook Monday as it expands a space-based cellular network for ordinary smartphones. The company reported a wider second-quarter net loss of $230.9 million, or 77 cents a share, compared with a loss of $99.4 million, or 41 cents a share, a year earlier.

Operating expenses surged to $329.1 million from $164.1 million in the first quarter, including a $125.9 million loss on involuntary conversion. Revenue rose to $31.5 million from $1.16 million a year earlier, but fell short of the $34.5 million analysts had expected, according to FactSet. The company said revenue was driven by gateway deliveries and milestones tied to U.S. government contracts.
