ABB, a Swiss industrial conglomerate, has agreed to acquire UK‑based flow‑control specialist Rotork in a $5.5 billion transaction aimed at bolstering its electrification portfolio. The deal will bring Rotork’s expertise in pressure‑control systems into ABB’s expanding digital‑automation and power‑distribution businesses.

Under the terms, Rotork shareholders will receive $6.81 per share, a 60 % premium over the three‑month average price. The transaction is expected to close later this year subject to regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions.

ABB CEO, Mattias Ljung, said the acquisition aligns with the company’s strategy to deepen its presence in the electrification market, adding new revenue streams and complementary product lines that will accelerate the transition to digital, connected solutions.

Analysts predict the deal will create synergies, enhance market reach, and deliver long‑term growth for both companies, positioning ABB as a leading provider of integrated electrification solutions worldwide.
