Taiwanese prosecutors escalated their investigation into the unauthorized diversion of Super Micro Computer AI servers to China, targeting six individuals on document forgery and breach of trust charges. The probe focuses on illicit exports of advanced artificial-intelligence equipment containing high-end Nvidia chips, marking an intensified effort to enforce export controls on sensitive technology.

Authorities conducted searches at Chief Telecom and Albatron Technology offices on Monday, following initial May allegations involving three individuals. The investigation centers on servers manufactured by the Nasdaq-listed company that were diverted without authorization to Chinese markets, potentially violating semiconductor export restrictions.

Super Micro stated it is cooperating with Taiwanese authorities and other global jurisdictions to protect its technology and intellectual property. The company emphasized that its products remain targets for illicit export networks, underscoring the urgent need for stronger supply-chain visibility and government-industry collaboration on export enforcement.

Shares of the California-based server manufacturer fell 8% in overnight trading as investors processed the news. The investigation highlights ongoing tensions around AI chip distribution and the challenges tech companies face securing their supply chains against unauthorized technology transfers to restricted markets.
