Japanese stocks rose in early trade, pushing the Nikkei Stock Average up 1.2% as weak U.S. jobs data dampened expectations for Federal Reserve rate increases. The rally was spearheaded by electronics and metals shares, reflecting investor confidence in sectors sensitive to global economic conditions.

Among the gainers, Ibiden climbed 7.4%, Furukawa Electric advanced 8.8%, and Sumitomo Metal Mining was 5.7% higher. These companies benefited from robust demand for electronic components and base metals, driving the broader market higher.

Currency markets also shifted, with the dollar easing to 157.88 yen from Y158.30 at Friday’s close in Tokyo. Investors are now focused on upcoming Japanese corporate earnings reports and any further developments in the Middle East that could affect risk sentiment.

The Nikkei Stock Average settled at 66376.25, marking a modest but steady gain for the session. Market participants continue to monitor macro‑economic signals from the U.S. and corporate disclosures for clues on future price movements. ([email protected]; @kosakunarioka)
