Gold Fields said it would return additional cash to shareholders as reported earnings for the first half of the year rose on higher prices and an increase in production. The South African gold miner said Tuesday that headline earnings for the half year ended June 30 rose 81% on the same period a year prior to $1.855 billion. This came as attributable gold-equivalent production grew 12% to 1.267 million ounces and average gold prices jumped 51%.

The higher earnings from gold helped offset a 13% rise in all-in sustaining costs to $1,893 an ounce. Alongside a more than doubling of its interim dividend to 1,625 South African cents a share, the miner said it would return an additional $500 million to shareholders over the year on top of previously announced plans. This would bring full-year shareholder returns to $1.25 billion.

The miner backed its 2026 guidance and said that it sees attributable gold-equivalent production at the upper end of the 2.4 million ounce to 2.6 million ounce guided range.
