Coinbase Sues SEC Over Operation Choke Point 2.0

A $150,000 award for text messages that disappeared. "I don't believe that an American citizen should have their bank accounts closed down, and nobody tells them why, or you have nowhere to appeal," said Rep. Maxine Waters (D., Calif.), ranking Democrat on the House Financial Services Committee, speaking in 2024 about Operation Choke Point 2.0—the government's campaign to pressure banks to cut off lawful crypto businesses and their customers.

While Coinbase and Ms. Waters disagree on much about crypto, they agree completely on this issue. In fact, Coinbase took the government to court to defend it—and won.
