Valterra Platinum is highlighted as a top pick in the platinum group metals (PGM) sector by RBC Capital Markets analysts Ben Davis and Laura Chan. The company's first-half earnings beat expectations, driven by strong concentrate and tolling purchases. The PGM sector has seen a 7% growth in the past month, with analysts seeing continued upside. Valterra is favored for its defensive qualities and strong balance sheet, with shares trading 7.7% higher.

Jefferies analyst Christopher La Femina reports that Glencore is poised for a strong first-half marketing performance, with production largely on track. The commodities giant's traders are expected to post an adjusted EBIT of $3.3 billion, exceeding consensus. Despite prior guidance for normalization in the second half, ongoing energy market dislocations suggest further upside. Glencore's performance may lead to upward revisions in expectations, with shares up 4.4%.

Bernstein analysts James Hooper and Sebastien Afoy note that Solvay delivered decent second-quarter results, which will need to be sustained. The chemical company maintained its full-year outlook, and repeating its second-quarter EBITDA could meet the lower end of guidance. Solvay is expanding its rare-earths segment with new customer commitments and €15-20 million in strategic investments for its La Rochelle site. Shares increased by 2.35%.
