A powerful snowstorm brought blizzard-like conditions to the Upper Midwest on Sunday, disrupting travel and knocking out power to thousands. The storm dumped seven to 10 inches of snow on the Twin Cities metro area and up to 17 inches in parts of Minnesota and Wisconsin. Officials issued no-travel advisories as near-whiteout conditions made roads dangerous.

In Minnesota, the Department of Transportation warned of challenging travel conditions due to heavy snow and strong winds. The Wisconsin Department of Transportation reported impassable roads in northern counties. The Mackinac Bridge in northern Michigan closed due to severe weather. This late-season storm follows the typical pattern of heaviest snowfall arriving this time of year in the region.

Air travel faced major disruptions with over 2,400 flights canceled nationwide by Sunday afternoon. Chicago O'Hare and Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airports saw the most cancellations. The Sioux Falls Regional Airport in South Dakota closed entirely due to ice and snow. Power outages affected nearly 55,000 customers across Indiana, Michigan, and Wisconsin, while high winds caused over 130,000 outages in Ohio and Pennsylvania.
