White House Attack Plot Thwarted During UFC Event

FBI Director Kash Patel revealed on social media that five suspects are in custody for plotting an assault on the White House during a weekend UFC event on the lawn. The scheme, described in unsealed charges, called for drone‑borne explosives and rifle fire, though investigators found no bombs or multiple drones. Prosecutors say the conspirators were driven by a radical desire to “tear down” the government.

Ohio teen Tycen Proper told detectives he would bring an AR‑15, ammo, tactical vest and ballistic plates, launching the attack by detonating drones over the arena’s north side to disperse the crowd. He alleged co‑conspirators in Missouri, California and Nebraska were building drones and seeking explosives, with one member calling himself “Shepherd.” Authorities say none of the alleged materials were recovered.

The plot surfaced after Proper’s mother alerted police, prompting his brief hospitalization for homicidal ideation. Federal terrorism task forces intercepted the scheme days before the fights, averting a potential mass‑casualty incident. The incident raises security concerns for high‑profile sporting events and could pressure organizers to tighten protocols, impacting ticket sales and venue insurance costs significantly in the industry.
