Construction crews are redoing the White House South Lawn helipad after President Donald Trump complained the project was slanted. The helipad, estimated to cost $5 million to $6 million, is reportedly being fully funded by Sikorsky Aircraft, a Lockheed Martin subsidiary.

Trump has expressed frustration with the lawn's slope, which he says prevents the landing pad from being level. Workers have begun dismantling the 100-foot-wide presidential seal that was being installed. White House spokesman Davis Ingle stated the helipad is needed for safe landings and to protect the lawn from helicopter exhaust.

The South Lawn slopes significantly, with some areas at a 20-degree incline, exceeding federal helipad guidelines. Trump aims to complete the project by September for a state visit from China's President Xi Jinping. He also mentioned Sikorsky agreed to pay for the landing pad due to damage caused by newer Marine One helicopters.
