President Trump shared graphic security footage of a Haitian man attacking a woman in Florida, using the video to attack immigration policies that protect Haitian immigrants. The man, Rolbert Joachin, faces first-degree murder charges for allegedly bludgeoning a 51-year-old convenience store employee to death with a hammer at a gas station.

Trump claimed Temporary Protected Status allowed the suspect to remain in the United States, though the program expired for him in 2024. The Department of Homeland Security had already shared the video earlier Thursday, announcing Joachin's arrest. Trump wrote on Truth Social that he felt obligated to show Americans what Democrats are protecting.

The attack victim was identified as Nilufa Easmin, a mother and member of the Bangladeshi community in Florida. While Trump and his aides push to connect immigration with crime, data shows immigrants historically commit crimes at lower rates than native-born Americans, and crime fell nationwide even as immigration levels spiked.
