President Trump is pushing forward with one of the most significant White House renovations in history, including plans to convert the historic Treaty Room into a guest bedroom with an en suite bath. The Treaty Room, where presidents signed major treaties like the 1963 Nuclear Test Ban Treaty, would undergo major changes under Trump's vision. This follows his $400 million, 90,000-square-foot ballroom project that required demolishing the East Wing.

Trump has already remade several White House spaces in his signature style, adding gold flourishes to the East Room and Oval Office, installing marble floors in the Palm Room, and completely remodeling the Lincoln Bedroom bathroom in marble and gold. His latest plans focus on the second-floor presidential residence, where he's also considering gold ceiling touches for the East Room. During a February tour for preservation committee members, Trump encouraged attendees to endorse his changes on the spot.

The renovations represent a dramatic departure from traditional White House preservation. Trump appointed allies to both the Committee for the Preservation of the White House and the Commission of Fine Arts early in his second term, though both panels maintain members who predate his administration. While these committees play an advisory role, Trump retains the authority to overrule their findings as he continues to imprint his bold design vision across America's most famous residence.
