President Donald Trump announced that Will Scharf will become White House counsel and assistant to the president effective Sept. 1. Trump also stated that current White House counsel David Warrington will transition to the private sector. Warrington, a former personal counsel and lawyer for Trump's 2024 campaign, will be succeeded by Scharf. The announcement highlights Scharf's elevation within the Trump administration, marking another key personnel change as the president continues restructuring his team.

Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick was present during the executive order signing, underscoring the administration's focus on legislative priorities.
