Toronto Fire Melts Drake's 25-Foot Ice Album Stunt

Toronto firefighters melted down a 25-foot ice structure erected to promote Drake's upcoming album "Iceman" after crowds became a safety hazard. The rapper's promotional stunt drew thousands of fans to a downtown parking lot, where people climbed the icy monolith and used blowtorches to melt it themselves. Fire chief Jim Jessop called the open flames "an immediate threat to life."

This was the second Drake-related disruption in less than a week. Residents in north Toronto were rattled by a loud explosion in a park that sent a plume of smoke visible from miles away - the city later confirmed it was a controlled pyrotechnic blast for a Drake music video. A streamer later found a bag hidden in the ice revealing the album release date of May 15.

The ice installation required transporting roughly one million pounds of ice from rural Ontario to downtown Toronto. Iceculture Inc., the producer, used a fleet of 20 forklifts fitted with special equipment to handle 300-pound blocks - one of the company's largest projects in nearly four decades of business. Mayor Olivia Chow supported the fire chief's decision while noting Drake, who is from Toronto, was "a big supporter of our city."
