Bo French, a Republican nominee for the Texas Railroad Commission, drew widespread condemnation after posting a racist message on social media following a Texas Longhorns football victory. His post, which mocked the racial diversity of celebrating fans and questioned the admission of foreign students at the University of Texas, was criticized by fellow Republicans including State Representative Dustin Burrows, who called for the post to be deleted, and Lacey Hull, who said it "breaks my heart." Senator John Cornyn warned that tolerating such rhetoric risks normalizing intolerance and self-destructing the party. Democrats also condemned the post, arguing Republican responses were insufficient.

French has a history of anti-Muslim, antisemitic, and anti-immigrant remarks, including a prior poll asking whether Muslims or Jews posed a "bigger threat" to America. Despite opposition from prominent Republicans like Gov. Greg Abbott and Lt.

Gov. Dan Patrick, French won his primary against incumbent Jim Wright in May. Abbott distanced himself from the post, calling it "not my message," while praising Texas unity and strict immigration laws.

French later claimed he "weeps for the families in Texas who can’t get into UT because they prioritize foreigners over Texans," though state law guarantees automatic admission to top 5% of Texas high school graduates, who make up to 75% of UT Austin’s class, with international students comprising fewer than 10%.
