Perez Hilton, the celebrity blogger, was hospitalized after he appeared to harm himself during a TikTok livestream on Tuesday. The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office stated that Mr. Hilton was transported from his home to a hospital for medical attention following "livestreaming acts of self-harm on social media." Video clips circulated online, appearing to show Mr. Hilton, 48, in distress.

Deputies responded to Mr. Hilton's house after receiving calls about the disturbing livestream. After speaking with family members, they confirmed Mr. Hilton was alone inside. The sheriff’s office prioritized de-escalation and mental health professionals provided support to his family. Mr. Hilton was hospitalized under Florida’s Baker Act, which allows for involuntary commitment for up to 72 hours if an individual poses a threat to themselves or others.

Mr. Hilton, whose real name is Mario Lavandeira, gained fame with his gossip website PerezHilton.com. He had previously been banned from TikTok in 2020 for violating community guidelines but announced his return in April. His TikTok account appeared to be taken down on Wednesday. A representative stated their focus is on Mr. Hilton’s health, recovery, and privacy.
