Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has intensified telephone diplomacy, contacting leaders of Iran, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Turkey, and numerous other nations in a bid to mediate between Washington and Tehran. Sharif spoke with Iran's President Pezeshkian, Saudi Crown Prince bin Salman, Egypt's President el-Sisi, and Turkey's President Erdogan, alongside leaders of Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Malaysia, and Uzbekistan. Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar also reached out to top diplomats from Iran, the UAE, Iraq, and the European Union. These efforts follow Sharif's detailed conversation with Pezeshkian after Iran's new supreme leader's nomination.

While speculation grew about Pakistan potentially hosting talks, officials downplayed immediate prospects, stating mediation is a process, not an event. Pakistan, Turkey, and Egypt are seen as potential neutral hosts, each with significant regional stakes. The calls underscore Pakistan's strategic position, leveraging ties with both Tehran and Riyadh to foster dialogue in a volatile region.
