NYC Palestinian Activist Assassination Plot Foiled

Federal authorities disrupted an assassination plot targeting Nerdeen Kiswani, co-founder of the pro-Palestinian group Within Our Lifetime, after receiving intelligence about an imminent threat. The FBI notified Kiswani late Thursday that arrests had been made, though suspects and motives remain undisclosed. Law enforcement conducted a search in Hoboken, New Jersey, making at least one arrest.

Kiswani, 31, has drawn controversy for her activism supporting Palestinian liberation "by any means necessary," including armed resistance. Her group has organized numerous protests in New York, sometimes employing inflammatory rhetoric and disruptive tactics that have led to accusations of antisemitism. Protesters have waved flags of Hamas and Hezbollah at Within Our Lifetime events.

The group gained significant traction during the Gaza conflict, with its Instagram account reaching 180,000 followers before being shut down by Meta in February 2024. Within Our Lifetime protests regularly attract hundreds of participants who have shut down Grand Central Terminal and closed city bridges. Pro-Israel groups reject the organization's distinction between Judaism and Zionism, calling it a smoke screen for antisemitic rhetoric.
