At least 30 Yemeni government troops were reportedly killed in Houthi rebel attacks on military camps in central Yemen. The defence ministry said ballistic missiles and drones struck several camps in Marib and Hadramawt provinces, vowing to "respond to this aggression at an appropriate time and place." The Houthis, backed by Iran, claimed they targeted "large Saudi military build-ups" preparing for an offensive.

In a separate incident, the Saudi-led coalition said 11 civilians were wounded in the border region of Najran, including seven Saudi nationals. The Houthi military spokesman claimed the attacks caused "hundreds of Saudi enemy mercenaries" killed or wounded and destroyed military equipment.

Yemen has been devastated by a civil war since 2014, when the Houthis ousted the government from Sanaa. The conflict escalated in 2015 with a Saudi-led coalition intervention. The fighting has left over 150,000 dead and triggered a humanitarian crisis, with 22 million needing aid. A UN-brokered ceasefire has largely held since 2022, but recent weeks have seen significant escalation.
