Fact-Checking Trump's Senate Attacks

President Trump, at a midterm convention in Texas, attacked three Democratic Senate candidates with inaccurate claims. He said Dr. Abdul El-Sayed's half sister celebrated the Oct. 7 attack, but she did not; the El-Sayed campaign said he disagrees with her rhetoric. Trump also claimed Roy Cooper released De Carlos Brown Jr., but Brown was released by a magistrate judge in 2025, not Cooper.

The task force report came after Brown's 2020 release and its recommendations were nonbinding. Cooper supported stricter bail laws in 2023. The White House did not comment.
