Dr. Karyna Shuliak, 37, the longtime girlfriend of Jeffrey Epstein, could inherit as much as $100 million from his estate, including a 33-carat diamond ring, according to investigative files released by federal authorities in January. The trove of three million pages revealed intimate emails and photos documenting their nearly eight-year relationship. Dr. Shuliak, a native of Belarus, has worked as a part-time dentist in Brooklyn while living in an Upper East Side condo connected to Epstein's brother, Mark. Federal authorities never interviewed her, nor considered her a co-conspirator in Epstein's sex trafficking.

The emails show Epstein funneled nearly $1 million to Dr. Shuliak over the years and paid tens of thousands to her parents in Belarus. He helped her gain admission to Columbia University's dental school after an initial rejection, arranging a $210,000 donation and providing exam tips through his dentist, Dr. Thomas J. Magnani. Epstein also facilitated her U.S. citizenship by urging a female victim to marry her in what congressional Democrats later called a potentially "illusory" same-sex marriage.

They met in March 2011 when Dr. Shuliak was 21 and working as a dental assistant for $15 an hour. A Siberian woman recruited her for Epstein, who initially followed his familiar pattern of flattery and manipulation. Dr. Shuliak initially resisted, citing news of his Florida prostitution conviction, but eventually accepted his help. By 2012 she wrote to him: "You are the purest man out of all men." A friend from Belarus said she "truly loved" Epstein.
