New York City emerged as a major winner with five new additions including Gramercy Tavern, Torrisi, Semma, Tatiana and Kabawa. However, last year's top restaurant, Atomix, fell to No. 7.

The methodology faces scrutiny as the list relies on 300 independent culinary experts who accept complimentary meals rather than anonymous inspectors. The upcoming global ceremony in Abu Dhabi has drawn criticism regarding human rights concerns. Industry observers note the ranking increasingly favors tiny, high-price establishments over traditional dining formats.
