The U.S. Army has launched an inquiry after Kid Rock received Apache helicopter flybys at his Nashville residence, videos that prompted Pentagon scrutiny. The musician, whose real name is Robert James Ritchie, posted footage of himself saluting the military aircraft hovering near his 27,000-square-foot mansion, which he calls the Southern White House. The helicopters also appeared earlier at a "No Kings" protest in Nashville.

The 101st Airborne Division, based at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, confirmed an administrative review will assess compliance with regulations and airspace requirements. Military officials stated the helicopters were conducting training exercises in the Nashville area and called their appearance over the protest "entirely coincidental." Kid Rock, a vocal Trump supporter, shared the videos with commentary critical of California Gov. Gavin Newsom.

The incident adds to scrutiny of the military's use of helicopters during public events. In 2020, Army National Guard helicopters dispersed George Floyd protesters using rotor blade blasts. A separate "No Kings" rally in Memphis turned violent, with three arrests and officers placed on administrative leave. The Army's review will examine both the Kid Rock residence incident and the protest flyover.
