More than 10 million grill brushes have been recalled after federal regulators discovered their wire bristles can detach and be accidentally ingested. The recall affects brushes made by Nexgrill and sold at Home Depot and online between 2015 and 2026. The company voluntarily recalled 10.2 million brushes after discovering the potential for serious internal injuries.

In at least five cases, customers required medical attention to remove bristles from their digestive tract or throat, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission. Nexgrill said it's aware of 68 instances where bristles have come off, with the wire bristles capable of sticking to grills and eventually food. The recalled brushes feature black plastic or wood handles measuring between 18 and 21 inches long.

The recall follows a similar action by Weber in February, which recalled three million wire bristle grill brushes over the same ingestion hazard. Medical experts warn that swallowed bristles can cause severe injuries, with one emergency physician noting cases have increased by more than 200 percent between 2015 and 2023.
