Mango Billionaire Son Arrested in Father's Death

Spanish police arrested Jonathan Andic, son of late Mango founder Isak Andic, as a homicide suspect in his father's 2024 hiking death. The arrest occurred at his Barcelona-area home Tuesday; he was released after posting 1 million euros ($1.15 million) bail. His lawyer and Mango did not immediately comment. The retailer, a major Spanish international chain, identifies Jonathan Andic as its vice chairman.

Isak Andic, worth 4.5 billion when he died at 71, built Mango from a Barcelona T-shirt shop in the mid-1980s into a global brand. His death was initially ruled an accident, but the investigation reopened in 2025 and was classified as a possible homicide last October. Spanish media had long reported the younger Andic was under scrutiny.

The arrest shocks the business world and casts a shadow over the family-controlled company. As one of Spain's wealthiest families and a leading retailer, the legal proceedings create uncertainty for Mango's governance and brand reputation. The company has yet to acknowledge the development publicly, a notable silence given its market position.
