Casa, a home management start-up founded by two former Uber executives, is emerging after two years in stealth mode. The company uses artificial intelligence and a network of handymen to handle ongoing home maintenance for members. Michael York, Casa's CEO, describes the service as a full-time concierge that can reach out for any home project you might have.

The company has secured approximately $27 million in funding from prominent investors including Forerunner Ventures, Sandberg Bernthal Venture Partners (co-founded by former Meta COO Sheryl Sandberg), and Travis Kalanick. Forerunner led a $20 million Series A round this year. Members pay around $200 per month for the service, which includes 1.5 hours of complimentary handyman time and AI-powered home monitoring.

Casa uses lidar scanners and specialized devices to digitally catalog members' homes, identifying maintenance needs before they become problems. The company claims a 97 percent member retention rate and currently operates only in the Bay Area and Los Angeles, with plans to expand to up to six additional markets. Kirsten Green, founder of Forerunner, said the team does not intend to replicate Uber's aggressive expansion strategy, emphasizing sustainable growth over rapid market capture.
