Workday Inc. announced a CAD $1 billion investment over five years in Canada, targeting artificial intelligence development, engineering, and customer support. The California-based software firm currently employs over 1,100 people there and serves more than 500 regional customers.

The pledge aligns with Ottawa’s "Canada Strong" initiative, which promotes domestic digital capability and responsible AI. CEO Carl Eschenbach cited long-standing ties to the country’s tech talent, framing the investment as a move to build human-centric, AI-powered systems for its Canadian client base.

Workday is also joining the "With Glowing Hearts" reservist registry, offering protected leave for employees serving in the Canadian Armed Forces. The announcement coincided with muted market reaction, as Workday shares dipped 1.4% amid broader software sector volatility.
