Wizz Air reported a wider Q3 operating loss of €124 million, despite a 12.5% rise in passenger numbers. The Hungarian budget airline saw revenue increase by 10.2% to €1.3 billion. However, rising fuel costs, maintenance, and airport charges offset gains. This reflects the challenges facing airlines with fluctuating expenses amid increased demand.

The airline's unit revenues declined, while costs rose. Total unit costs rose 2.3% to 4.35 euro cents. Fuel expenses climbed 14% to €475.1 million. Airport and handling charges also surged. These factors contributed to a decrease in the load factor. The company maintained its financial outlook for 2026.

Wizz Air is managing the grounding of aircraft due to engine inspections. The airline's net debt also increased. RBC Europe noted the quarter was "broadly in line" with expectations. CEO József Váradi emphasized capacity deployment and network design. Investors will watch for how the airline navigates these headwinds.

The airline's focus remains on consolidating bases and network design in Central and Eastern Europe. The company is aiming for flat unit revenue and low single-digit growth in total unit costs. Also, total cash stood at €1.98 billion at the end of December. The market will be looking at the company's next steps.
