UniCredit delivered record annual profit of €10.6 billion for 2025, up 14% year-over-year, as Italy's second-largest bank targets ambitious growth to reach €13 billion in net profit by 2028. CEO Andrea Orcel capped five years of sustained outperformance with 20 consecutive quarters of profitable growth, reinforcing the bank's position in European financial markets.

The Milan-based lender achieved a return on tangible equity of 19.2%, while total revenues reached €24.54 billion despite pressure from lower interest rates. UniCredit maintained disciplined cost management with operating costs essentially flat at €9.44 billion, delivering a best-in-class cost-to-income ratio of 38.5% while absorbing €1.4 billion in extraordinary charges.

Shareholders will benefit from €30 billion in planned distributions over three years, including €9.5 billion for 2025 alone. The bank's Common Equity Tier 1 ratio stood at 14.7%, well above its target range, positioning it for double-digit earnings and dividend growth through its "UniCredit Unlimited" strategic plan.
