Standard Chartered PLC has appointed Andy Burrill as interim chief financial officer after Diego De Giorgi stepped down to join Apollo Global Management. The London-based bank announced the leadership change in an exchange filing Tuesday, with Burrill taking over from his current role as group head of central finance and deputy CFO.

Group CEO Bill Winters expressed confidence in Burrill's ability to maintain strategic momentum during the transition. De Giorgi's departure, effective immediately, marks a significant shift for the emerging markets-focused bank as it searches for a permanent replacement. The move comes as Standard Chartered continues to execute its strategic priorities under Winters' leadership.

Apollo Global Management announced separately that De Giorgi will join as a partner and head its business in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. He will succeed Rob Seminara, who will support the transition before taking on new responsibilities at Apollo later this year. The appointment of De Giorgi, a seasoned financial executive, signals Apollo's continued expansion in key international markets.
