Shares in Paradox Interactive plummeted 14% on Thursday after disappointing fourth-quarter results. The Swedish gaming company’s new release, Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2, failed to meet commercial expectations. This led to a substantial write-down, impacting the overall financial performance despite strong results from the company's core portfolio and successful launches.

Paradox reported a quarterly operating loss of SEK 245.4 million, a stark contrast to the previous year's profit. The underperformance of the vampire-themed game resulted in a SEK 355.3 million write-down. However, the company’s core business, including Europa Universalis V, demonstrated solid performance, with rising cash flow from operations.

For the full year 2025, Paradox saw a 0.4% decrease in sales, totaling SEK 2,191.9 million, and an 80% drop in operating profit to SEK 146.0 million. Despite the setbacks, the board proposed an increased dividend. Investors are now closely watching the company's future releases and strategies to regain market confidence.

The disappointing performance of Bloodlines 2 highlights the challenges in the competitive gaming market. Many game developers struggle to meet high expectations. The company's ability to revitalize the Vampire franchise and deliver successful new titles will be critical to restoring investor confidence and driving future growth. The focus now shifts to their upcoming projects.
