MarineMax Inc (NYSE:HZO) is drawing increased interest from potential acquirers after receiving an unsolicited $35-per-share cash bid from The Donerail Group. Blackstone Inc, Centerbridge Partners, and TPG Inc have all expressed interest in the world's largest recreational boat retailer, according to Reuters sources. The news sent MarineMax shares up 8.8% in Wednesday trading.

Donerail, which holds a 4% stake in MarineMax, has escalated its campaign to force a sale, criticizing the board for not engaging with its $1.1 billion valuation. The private equity firm has launched a proxy fight ahead of the March 3 annual meeting, urging shareholders to vote against CEO Brett McGill's re-election. Investor Island Capital Group and recreational vehicle retailer Blue Compass have also emerged as potential suitors.

MarineMax defended its handling of the situation, stating it has held three substantive calls with Donerail and provided a non-disclosure agreement for due diligence. The company noted that Donerail has not yet executed the agreement despite public demands for non-public data. Major shareholder Levin Capital Strategies warned that further delays by the board will force shareholders to hold directors accountable at future annual meetings.
