JPMorgan has upgraded SoFi from Neutral to Overweight following the fintech company's recent earnings report. The upgrade comes after a post-earnings share decline, which JPMorgan views as creating a more attractive entry point for investors. The firm cited SoFi's strong performance, including better-than-expected guidance for 2026, as key factors in its reassessment.

SoFi's fourth-quarter results demonstrated clear execution, with record performance. The company's strategy of targeting higher-income, tech-savvy customers is paying off, as SoFi continues adding members and deposits at a faster clip than many of its fintech peers. JPMorgan also pointed to growing fee income from SoFi's technology platform and financial services products, supporting a higher valuation.

The brokerage anticipates SoFi will add about 4 million members by 2026, bringing the total to approximately 17 million. JPMorgan reiterated its December 2026 price target of $31, implying about 40% upside, and believes SoFi's execution and more reasonable valuation now justify a more positive stance. The firm's analysis signals confidence.

Previously, concerns around fair-value adjustments on SoFi’s loan book and a volatile interest rate environment tempered optimism. However, with interest rates stabilizing and credit trends remaining stable, JPMorgan's outlook on SoFi has improved. This upgrade reflects a shift in sentiment toward the fintech sector as a whole.
