Intercontinental Exchange (NYSE:ICE) has expanded its cryptocurrency derivatives offerings by launching a suite of futures contracts based on CoinDesk digital asset indices. The new products provide market participants with regulated tools to hedge risk or gain exposure to major cryptocurrencies without holding the underlying tokens.

The cash-settled and U.S. dollar-denominated contracts include futures linked to the CoinDesk 20 and CoinDesk 5 indices, as well as single-asset futures for major cryptocurrencies. The CoinDesk 20 index tracks a broad basket of digital assets using a capped market-capitalization methodology and captures more than 90% of the digital asset market.

ICE's move into crypto futures comes as over $40 billion in assets under management are already linked to CoinDesk indices, demonstrating significant institutional adoption. The exchange plans to further extend its digital asset offering with One-Month CoinDesk Overnight Rate USDC futures, subject to regulatory approval, which would mark its entry into crypto-based interest rate benchmarks.
