Binance US Return Predicted by Ripple CEO

Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse predicted Binance will reenter the U.S. market, calling the exchange a "capitalistic, innovative company" that will pursue growth. Speaking at a Davos event, he argued Binance's return would increase competition and expand market participation, potentially lowering prices for American crypto traders.

Binance exited the U.S. in 2023 after a $4.3 billion settlement with the Department of Justice, which included former CEO Changpeng Zhao pleading guilty to money laundering charges. Co-CEO Richard Teng has called the U.S. a "very important marketplace" but indicated the company is taking a "wait-and-see" approach.

Garlinghouse noted Binance's global pricing is lower than current U.S. offerings, suggesting its return could attract more participants by reducing costs. A December Bloomberg report indicated Binance was considering reentry. The potential move would test the company's ability to rebuild trust with regulators after its 2023 legal settlement.
